Ekellin*Fi is a single-breed Maine Coon cattery, registered with the WCF system. Previously, the cattery was registered with the Finnish club Fennica Catus ry in Turku, which was based on the Estonian club Cato. Since August 1, 2025, the cattery has become a member of the main Cato club in Estonia. This step allows for the expansion of the breeding program, working with new colors, and increasing genetic diversity, thereby strengthening the health and character of future generations.
The main cattery is located in Helsinki. Cooperation is being developed with several investment families living in different parts of Finland, including Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, Lappeenranta, Forssa, and Hämeenlinna. The partner network covers the entire country, ensuring a high level of care and quality for both the cats and their future owners.
The household exclusively houses cats, with regular generational updates: some animals are retired from breeding, others remain, and young cats are added to the program. Male cats live as family pets with co-owners of the cattery, who share a love for the breed and participate in working with Maine Coons. They are also involved in the breeding program, ensuring generational continuity and the development of the breed’s best qualities.
All Maine Coons at the cattery are kept in a home environment, constantly interacting with people, children, and other animals. They receive a mixed diet: water and dry food are available at all times, while fresh meat mixes—composed of chicken fillets, necks, gizzards, hearts, and pork hearts—are provided twice daily, in the morning and evening.
Kittens from the cattery are primarily sold as family pets and only occasionally for breeding in serious small catteries.
